Comic Mnemonics
Comic Mnemonics is a 'whole brain' approach to spelling. It is particularly useful for children who find spelling difficult, but it is also very effective for whole class teaching.

At the core of Comic Mnemonics is an approach to spelling which engages mnemonics, jingles and visual clues in a rather original way to spell the tricky common exception words like was and said through to more complex words like prejudice and forty. All the year 3/4 and year 5/6 spelling words are included as well as a comprehensive guide to spelling rules.
The programme is packed with games, activities, tricks and gimmicks to make spelling engaging and fun. The training includes a comprehensive set of resources.

Step UP sheets
Step UP sheets are a graduated set of phonic drills to support fluency with reading. Each phonic skill is practised initially in the context of single words, then in short 'silly sentences' and finally in the form of comic rhymes. The programme is carefully designed to motivate through achievement.

Step UP sheets form part of the Comic Phonics training above, but can also be purchased as a separate one hour training. The programme is intended to be delivered by Teaching Assistants as a short intervention several times a week.
